Heartbreak and a plane ticket

Hello!

I've got a some travellers that have broken up. They each had one way tickets from Europe back to the USA on Delta. Does any one know of any way the person who purchased the tickets can get any of the value on the ticket that was purchased for the other person? Ticket is not refundable, it doesn't seem that residual MCO's are refundable either. Any ideas?

I had someone in that situation. They got the credit for the flight and then purchased the least expensive one way ticket which left residual value that they could use on anything. It was AA. Good luck!
