Anyone having luck with UA refunding with a drs. note these days?

I have a group tkt that client needs to cancel due to her being a perfect match for a stem cell replacement for her brother. A big deal, of course. If I send it through and UA denies it, it is a credit for her. If I do a name change, which I can since it is a group ticket, they can put it in a name for a person more likely to use it and there is a 50.00 penalty. If I try the drs. note route, name change can't happen if they deny it. AA is not doing refunds with drs. notes. Delta has been more generous. Any input on United ? Thank you!

Great thought Dana, but it was an actual group airfare ticket. I did have another agent who said she just had them refund a couple UA tickets with a drs. note. I let the client decide and she didn't want to take the chance. So because it was a group ticket, we did a name change to someone else who is more likely to use it, then cancelled the space. Now, I'm going to send a letter into UA with the dr's note and try it ! We'll see, but at least it's likely usable in the future. The tricks we have to try to come up with :)
