TIP for seeing fewer supplier emails in your inbox

I saw this on a TMR webinar and am surprised at how well it is working. I use gmail, but they said it also works with outlook.

  1. Create a label(gmail) / folder(outlook) where you want your supplier email/newsletters to live. Name it something like "supplier newsletters."

  2. Set up a filter directing any email containing the word "unsubscribe" to go to that label/folder. Set the filter to skip the inbox and only appear in the labeled folder. <<To set up a filter in GMAIL, select "manage labels," "filters and blocked emails," "create new filter." Enter "unsubscribe" in the "has the words" box. Check "create filter." A popup box will appear, check "skip the inbox" and "apply the label" (to the supplier label you created earlier). >>

  3. You can check your label/folder with your supplier emails at your convenience but you won't see them in you inbox.

  4. I also created filters for "unmonitored email" and "special offer"

I hope this helps!!

I use separate emails for tradeshows etc, but still get too many supplier emails in my main inbox. I unsubscribe from almost all, but this will be helpful! thanks!
