ECUADOR - Yellow Fever Vaccination Requirement Effective May 12, 2025
Hi All...
Important update that could affect some of your travelers heading to Ecuador. Please read this carefully. It appears that it would only effect travelers to Ecuador coming from Peru, Colombia, Bolivia, or Brazil. As we all know, many people combine Peru with Ecuador.
This announcement from Tropic Travel:
In alignment with international health protocols and to help prevent the spread of Yellow Fever (YF), the Government of Ecuador has announced a new entry requirement effective May 12, 2025.
Travelers must present a valid International Certificate of Vaccination against Yellow Fever upon arrival if they meet one of the following conditions:
1.- They are citizens or residents of Peru, Colombia, Bolivia, or Brazil.
2.- They are of any nationality and have spent 10 or more days in any of the countries listed above—either visiting or in transit—prior to entering Ecuador.
Important Notes:
The vaccine must be administered at least 10 days prior to arrival in Ecuador. A single dose provides lifetime immunity.
We understand that this comes at a difficult moment and may impact ongoing trips or last-minute bookings.
About Medical Concerns and Waivers
At this time, no official exceptions have been announced based on age or medical conditions. Travelers who are unable to receive the vaccine for medical reasons should consult their physician and request a formal medical waiver or certificate, ideally in both English and Spanish, that clearly states the contraindication. While this may help at the border, the final decision will lie with Ecuadorian immigration and health authorities.
