Kimpton - Barcelona, Marbella, Mallorca

I recently went on an outstanding fam trip with IHG with a small group of Virtuoso advisors, as well as Lindsey Dollahon (Global Luxury & Lifestyle Sales Director, US West, and our listed contact in the vendor directory, Lindsey.Dollahon@ihg.com). Many of the arrangements and details were fine-tuned by David Rubio (Cluster Luxury & Leisure Director of Sales, based out of Barcelona but handling all 3 properties, david.rubio@kimptonvividorahotel.com). In short, we were treated very well, the itinerary was incredibly reasonable, and I enjoyed all 3 unique properties and the destinations. Here's a brief breakdown of each property:

Kimpton Vividora - Barcelona

Great location in the Gothic Quarter, a couple blocks off La Rambla and very close to Passeig de Gràcia (shopping and some of the high end hotels). There is some bustle but generally speaking I thought the noise was pretty minimal at night for how in the thick of things it is. Rooms aren't terribly big, which is typical for a city hotel. My only gripe is room appointments differed, so my room did not have a desk and instead had extra space to hang clothes (others had the opposite). The rooftop bar and restaurant shines here, and it even has a pool, though like most rooftop pools in Barcelona it is fairly small. All of the food on property was great! And although David roams between properties, this is David's home property so you're more likely to connect with him here.

Kimpton Los Monteros - Marbella

I fell in love with this property immediately. This property was a hotel previously, and Kimpton bought it and redid the whole thing while still honoring its history and connection to the locals. The colors and patterns have amazing 60s vibes, especially the chairs and umbrellas by the pool. If you have watched Palm Royale with Kristen Wiig, this feels like the club there. Gorgeous! And you really will see locals coming in to dine or have a drink. The rooms were spacious and had just the right amount of color to pop. They also have a beach club a short drive or medium walk away, in partnership with Dolce&Gabbana. To get into Marbella town you'll have a short 10 minute drive.

My only qualms with this property are likely the result of it having just opened before we arrived. Although the food was excellent, our meals went very long...even for Spain. I'm positive they will improve on this with time, and it is not something that would make me shy away from sending clients here. Staff was friendly and helpful!

Kimpton Aysla - Mallorca

We went early in the season, but I imagine this is still a pretty calm property even in higher season. Earth tones and mindful allocation and selection of plants support that theory. Rooms were a good size, and I loved the terrace I had. I enjoyed a massage in their spa, which may be their most notable asset. It even has a sizable indoor pool! There are 2 outdoor pools, 1 being adults only. They are in the same general area, but separated by the outdoor restaurant. Speaking of food, the Asian fusion here was my favorite meal of the trip!

They have a driving range you can see from the property and a golf course just across the street (they will drive you over). They also have a partnership with a beautiful beach club, though I can't recall how far the drive it. About 25 minute drive to get into Palma. Renting a car is the way to go on Mallorca, especially because there is so much within an hour or so. I'm not good at relaxing, so this would be a hard stay for me, but certain clients will certainly enjoy it.

Only issue at this property: the bar area is small and not super cozy. The group of advisors felt like we were taking over the bar when we had a nightcap. And the seating area around it feels more lunch tables than lounge. I think outdoor seating is better once the weather improves.

Alright, I hope this is helpful for anyone looking to sell these properties! Feel free to reach out if you have questions (brian@timezoneless.com or 630-776-1802).
